MODELING

When I was first introduced to the exciting world of modelling, I took it upon myself to learn everything I possibly could about the business. A serious student, I quizzed every industry expert I met: agents, photographers, art directors, designers, business people and model themselves. I search the shelves of bookstores for books about the fashion industry, books about photography, hair and makeup and about modelling.

NOW TAKE A GOOD LONG LOOK AT YOURSELF IN THE MIRROR- YOU ARE YOUR PRODUCT- your face, your body and mind, your personality, enthusiasm, dedication and commitment. Only you can build a career for yourself. Sure you’ll need the guidance and expertise of agents and industry professionals but in the end, it’ll be up to you.
**TIPS FOR THE MODEL BODY**

HEALTH
Your health affects your looks, your energy---everything you do as a model. Maintaining it must be primary concern and part of your professional routine. You will book more work if you consistently get sufficient sleep, eat, a balanced diet and maintain an exercise routine.

SKIN CARE
If you are healthy, your skin will reflect it. Diet, rest and exercise are basic to a smooth, glowing complex. Super model Beverly Jonson recommends meditation also. These she, feels, are powerful beautifiers because they affect the way we feel our sense of well being and that inner beauty can’t help but be reflected in our appearance.

MODEL HAIR
A working model’s hair is usually washed daily to rid it of the products that are used for a typical photo shoot. All that shampooing, blow-drying, curling, crimpling, gels, hair spray can take a toll. Condition with heat; let the conditioner soak in for at at least ten minutes. Then rinse it thoroughly, gradually finishing the rinse with cool water.

EXERCISE
A healthy body is fit, toned and curvy. Its’ muscle that creates curves, not bulging muscles, but long, toned muscle. No matter how much attention you pay to your diet, you will not look your best or feel best until you find an exercise routine that is comfortable to you.

MAKEUP
As a model, you will, in time learn all secrets from professional make-up artists with whom you work. Until then you need be aware only of the basics. Keep your skin clean and moisturizes and wear a little make up as possible to go sees and appointments. Excessive make-up clogs pores, cause breakouts and even allergic reactions.

You can be a model and still be yourself, don’t forget to keep learning everything you can about your business, yourself and the opportunities that surround you. Keep an open mind.
