MUSIC CITY OPENS

I arrived at the event like 10:00 am in the morning, just in time for the blessing ceremony. The intimate blessing ceremony were attended by the Kwan Family, friends and few guests. The priest lead the blessing of the place and the cutting of the ribbon was assisted by Mr. Avel Manansala.

I got a chance to talk with Mr. Marvin Kwan, the owner of Music City and who, to my surprise was the architect of the said place. He designed the Sun City Hotel where Music City is located. The establishment has 12 air conditioned KTV rooms with hi def sound systems, flat screen televisions and restaurant that serves savoury foods. The room is very spacious and welcoming. They have cosy couches and big tables just right for the people who will use the room.

When my friends and I settled at the KTV rooms it’s as if that we were having our own private party inside and their song books are really updated! Even though I’m not a good singer at all, I sung because I think their sound system is way too great.

I enjoyed my first time singing’ at Music City.

Q Bar

Qbar opening rocks!

When I went inside the Q I was astonished by its interior, the light are perfectly well combined, the bar area is very inviting and of course it’s filled with different kind of liquors that people parch for. Overflowing foods, nice choice of songs and outgoing people made the opening of the bar very ideal.  Last but not the least they have a commodious dance floor.

The party is filled with prominent and gregarious people. One of them is Governor Miguel Domingez who joined me in a photo op, Alona Miguel manager of BDO Bank, Kate Budke sales account manager of Sun City and Jobeth Cantiveros from leasing of KCC mall.

I also found there the group of friends of Randall Gotan who happened to be the one of the part owner of the bar. Well I took opportunity to ask him about the bar. In short we had a question and answer portion. He gamely answered all my questions! (laughing):

Rom: why did you name it Q?
Ran: Q is actually the name of the mother branch located in Damosa, Lanang, Davao City. It's named Q because it's easy to remember. The letter "Q" is often associated with question. We want people to ask, " What is Q all about?" and easily remembering a great experience, they would always want to come back for more.

Rom: Who are your target customers?
Ran:Every person who wants a delightful dining experience. Every person who wants a wide array of drinks. Every person who wants to relax and unwind. Every person who wants a night of fun in the city. In short, anyone who enjoys great food, drinks and music in the company of wonderful people.

Rom: How do you plan to change the way people party in Gensan?
Ran:We will be bringing a new meaning to partying in Gensan. We will be introducing the latest music from different genres. We will also be hosting a variety of exciting parties. Everyone will get to have the Q experience! Partying with a great crowd and excellent food and drinks.

We ended up the interview by toasting our drinks. Thanks Man!

As I continue to roam around I found this cosy place where I found couches; you can catch up with your friends on their day and generally just have a good time while relaxing yourself. Plus! They have veranda where you could sit around and talk while drinking and you’d still have fun.

The night is still young, so I went back with my girl friends and enjoyed the atmosphere of the crowd. Meet new people, talk to them, dance a bit and laugh so hard with different kind of hilarious stories I heard from them.

You've seen those people who seem to be comfortable in any social situation. What's their secret? What’s my secret?
Steps:
Dress to kill. Wear something very fashionable but make sure you are comfortable wearing them.
 Be confident!
Stand up straight and look people directly in the eye. Self-assurance is very attractive. People will believe that there must be some underlying reason for your self-confidence.
Smile
J
Compliment each person you talk to and find out something interesting about them.
Circulate! Don't get trapped with the same people all evening.
Introduce people you meet to each other.
Don't drink so much you lose control. HAVE FUN!

Past 12:00am my phone beeped. Time to go home now, chuckles. While on my way going out the Qbar, I’m so gay and upbeat. Somehow it’s a good a thing to go out sometimes. See new place, new things, new people, new friends and who knows new love.
A truly Ď‹ber great Q bar experience

it made me sung this song :
Im on Patron, Tequila
I'm drunk on Margarita
That Patron, Tequila
Me and my mamacita
Hey girl ,Where's your drink? Put your drinks up! HAHAHA!

APPLE GREAT SON PHOTOGRAPHY

Beauty Queen + Great Son = PICTURE PERFECT

I was contemplating on what to write for my column, when it crossed in my mind that I want to do and write down something different this time. Until I come up to the idea of “what’s happening behind a photo shoot and mostly my experience about it”. I called Apple right away and I felt bliss because he’s game for it. We planned and conceptualize the shoot and pursue it the following day.

We head to the airport like 4:00pm just in time to catch the bright light of the sun and white-bluish clouds. We were chatting inside the car and we were cracking our slapstick jokes to one another. Since Apple, Marthin Millado, Jenny Tanedo and I are good friends, there’s no room for dull moments. When we reach the airport we had a hilarious experience because the security stopped us and looked for our letter of approval for the said shoot; we were instructed to proceed to the Admin to talk to their Security Heads and we were asked on what’s our purpose for the shoot. We wanted to drop the name of our editor-in-chief Armandi Nicolas haha but luckily they allowed us to do the shoot. Thanks to our charms! Hahaha

Immediately we started. Apple was geared up with his NikonD3s, Marthin and Jenny was tasked to check the lights and the flashes. Apple helped me to project my body’s posture and expression .We had test shots; they adjusted their lightnings and lens to attain a picture perfect. I stood up in a runway and give Apple my best poses. I can hear their appreciation that helps me to set my mood even better.

When apple let me peak some of his shots I was ecstatic because the photos are really great.  I wanted to say thank you:

Apple Great Son Francisco, My guy buddy and humorous friend, one the renowned wedding and fashion photographer in the country, world, seafood lover and a true-blue General.

Bobong Otanes, A good friend, fashion designer, stylist and in demand makeup artist in the city. Official Makeup artist of every beauty queen who won in local and national pageants.

It’s always important that you have a good rapport with the photographer. You must work together to achieve the goals. The best photos are always about emotions. You can’t build emotions if there’s no connection between the photographer and the model.   I must say that the entire shoot was easy, relax and fun. It’s almost twilight when we end up on our shoot, we packed our things and head back to the heart of the city, having the feeling of contentment and being productive.

Photoshoot Tips for Model
  • Make sure you get a good night's sleep prior to the shoot. This will help prevent the un-wanted bags under the eyes as well as help give you the patience and stamina that is needed during a shoot
  • Spend some time in front of a mirror learning and developing a variety of expressions
  • Ask the best Makeup Artist to do your make up; as well as the Hair Stylist
  • Make sure that you are comfortable and can move freely with the clothes your wearing during the shoot
  • Give your best shot!

**The single smartest thing you can do is to decide to have fun on your shoot. If you do, it will show up in your pictures :)

COSMETOLOGIE IN GENSAN

Whenever you think about lifting your looks and your spirit, nothing compares to getting yourself a new hair cut and hair color. We girls always wanted to make a great change with our face by changing our hair style and lengths of our hair. In my case, since I have a curly hair I can’t do all the styles with my big hair (BANGS!) but my big hair is unique and it makes me standout in the crowd.

In connection with hair; I was invited to join the biggest regional event on Cosmetologie, Beauty Wellness celebrating: “Beauty Inside and Out” at Robinson Activity Area last October. Cosmetologie is the 1st Regional Gathering of the Philippine International Cosmetologists Association (PICA) in Socsksargen and General Santos is the first city to host the said event. It was founded in the year 2008 and currently led by Fanny Serrano.

They prepared a lot of activities like showing how to do right colouring, proper way of cutting hair, and different techniques in doing a hair style and make up. Congratulations to the organizers as well as to the participants, the event was indeed a success.

Listed below are some common TLC habits to adopt for curly hairs:
  • Avoid hot water on your hair. Use only lukewarm or cool.
  • Wait as long as possible in-between shampoo sessions to give hair time to build up natural oils. Spot clean   with dry shampoo products to remove oil from fringes or top of hair.
  •  Allow hair to air-dry when possible.
  •  Apply a good leave-in conditioning product and "plopp" hair to allow a beautiful curl pattern.
  •  Use oil treatments that are not heated or cream conditioners for restoring moisture.

Happy curly hair!  :)
